Chain of Kindness Challenge
Whoever you are, wherever you are, Wednesday is a perfect day to start a chain of kindness. Wednesday February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day, and if you are a Christian, you know it is the beginning of Lent. Both are great reasons to start some good deeds, and they might start a chain reaction of others doing good deeds. Have your kids create a chain of kindness, both literally and figuratively!
Starting Wednesday, have them write on a strip of paper their daily act of kindness and make it into a heart. The next day, write another good deed or act of kindness and link the strip to the first heart and make it into a heart also. In 30 (or 40 days if you are doing it for Lent) there will be a nice long beautiful decoration.
Each kid only needs 40 strips of paper the same size. Eleven inches, or the length of a piece of construction paper or cardstock, by about 1 to 1.5 inches is a great size. You can close the heart with a stapler, a piece of tape or glue. Stapler probably works the best.
Here is a video of a woman showing step by step instructions, on a heart paper chain she made for Valentine's Day that I think is helpful.
My kids are going to make their chain pink and purple for the colors of Lent, but another great idea is to make a rainbow of colors. That would look great for St.
Patrick's Day in a month!
